SPECIAL NOTICE:
These prints aren`t finished; within the chiseled heart is a blank space where the artist will draw in the initials of choice with every special order.
People have left their traces on the land and in the stones; silent signals that whisper of joy or fear decorate mountains and cliffs. These whispers are mysterious because they hint at deeper things lost to the turnings of the earth.
In a heart carved in stone, beloved initials could only hint at their meaning. Their meaning was as real as the rock and could be felt as the ache of missing a lover, seen in remembered visions of soft living form, anticipated in the promise of future touching and in quiet luxurious memory of moments shared. Living hearts carry meaning carved stone can only hint of. Meaning is light and lifts a human heart while the heavy stone waits unmoved for other passers by. Meaning can be seen in the darkest night when the stone is invisible even to the deer and antelope. Never-ever-ever will any work of art, primitive or refined, encompass the meaning it becomes a monument to. Art will always be a feeble attempt to record deeper things. Meaning is like music heard, and monuments like written notes unplayed.
The cowboy wanders over land that has been traversed by Indians moving camp, mountain men trekking to rendezvous and other cowboys like himself - and during his wanderings the girl he loves is waiting beyond the cloudless sky and gray green land. His carving will last a long time; as the Indian writings have. It will be there long after he is gone; after he has made the girl his wife; long after they have watched their children and grandchildren grow and live their lives. It will be there long after he has spent his life with the girl he loves. But even rock becomes scarred and erodes . Marks made in stone become unreadable: Stone is only a little less temporary than flesh and blood.
It doesn’t matter. The meaning will live on in the mind of God who sees invisible meaning that men try to record in stone. Love is as eternal as the God who remembers and delights in human hearts who share love and find it worthy of a monument. Monuments may crumble to dust, but love is etched upon an eternal surface
